Mission
to Batu Pahat Flood Victims
On 26 Jan 07, a 40 ft.lorry loaded up the following
donated items, bound for Batu Pahat, JB:-

Early next morning, members of LCS Amber and LCS
Khatib Mandarin and the Lotus Light Charity Society left for Batu
Pahat. They were joined by members of the various Lions Clubs in JB
on this mission. The one day mission started with a very quick lunch,
and was followed by the handling over of the donated items at the
warehouse of the Batu Pahat Lions. They later visited a flood relief
centre and distributed some items to them. The mission ended with
a fellowship dinner with the Malaysian Lions in a restaurant at Simpang
Rengam.

Mission to the Relief Centre, Kota Tinggi, Malaysia on 12 Jan 2007
They delivered a truck load of the following relief items:School bags,

Lions attend Sri Anggerek Bangsawan's GEMA RIA
AIDILFITRI II on 12 November 2006
On12th November. 2006, 5 members from LCS Ji Yang, 3 from Oriental
and 2 from Hill View attended the cultural entertainment cum dinner
evening "Gema Ria Aidifitri II" organised by Sri Anggerek
Bangsawan, a self supported Malay traditional cultural organisation,
at Hotel Meridien.
Each Lion member attending
the function contributed $100.00 to support this cultural event. The
programme comprised songs and drama in Malay, with English subtitles.
The Lions had a very enjoyable evening. DC
for Cultural and Community Activities Chua Hong who led this project
was invited to sit at the VIP table. The MC for the function mentioned
the Lions Clubs' support several times during the whole night.

308 Al Lions Charity Golf Challenge 2006 Round-up
A total of 240 golfers comprising members and friends from 27 Lions
Clubs participated in this charity event held on Friday, 20ffi October
2006 at Raffles Country Club on both courses, The Palm Course and
The Lake Course. This massive joint effort raised a sum of $80,000,
including a provisional donation of $20,000 from the Singapore Totalisation
Board, to support our 3 entities.:
During the prize presentation
dinner, our DPM Professor S Jayakumar as Guest of Honour gave away
top prizes to winners and mementos to the sponsors. He also shared
his personal relationship with the Lions movement in Singapore and
encouraged each and every Lion to continue to keep up with the good
work. Our District Governor Isabel Cheong gave away the DG Challenge
Trophy donated by her to the best Lion Golfer, Lion Tan Gee Cheng
from LCS Clarke Quay, and Appreciation Plaques to the Best Supporting
Club, LCS J1 Yang (with 10 flights) and the Best Supporting Lion,
Cabinet Secretary David Lee.

Lions Service Day @ Henderson Community Centre
Members of the Lions Clubs of Singapore marked World Lions Service
Day, 8 Oct 06, by organising and carrying out community service at
a number of venues, in association with volunteers. At the Henderson
Community Club, young and elderly members of the community were given
free eye screening conducted by 40 Singapore Polytechnic Optometry
Students. Children who needed their vision correction could collect
their free spectacles after a few days. The elderly were also treated
to free haircuts and facial treatment, and even provided with a take-home
glamour shot of their new look. Among the visiting dignitaries were
MP Indranee Rajah and District Governor Isabel Cheong. About 230 children
and elderly benefited from this project.
